We will be in Portland, Or soon for a vacation we will be staying downtown.
Does anyone have any suggestions for something new to do.
We plan on …Saturday Market, Museums, NW Portland, shopping, Zoo.
Any other ideas? Somewhere cool to stay? Anything.

I've vacationed there a few times and love the city. Here's a few things I've really enjoyed. Crystal Springs Rhododendron garden, The International Rose Test Garden, The Grotto. The NE Alberta St neighborhood has funky shops for the crafty types and good food. The Kennedy School seems like a cool place to stay. I've not but have enjoyed their sister property Edgefield. Powells is I think, THE BEST book store in the US. Stop by Voodoo Doughnuts for a snack nearby. Try a tour of Pittock Mansion, The view is awesome. Um, I could keep going on. Have fun!!!

If you have kids, check out: The Children's Museum and The Zoo (right next to each other), OMSI (East Side). If not, The Ace hotel is a new cool hotel downtown and supposedly has a great new deli (I haven't been). East Burnside is really evolving - just walk over Burnside Bridge and anywhere up to about 30th ave is great. If the weather is nice, drive out The Gorge. Take the Bridge of the Gods into Washington (really amazing view -only 45-60 minutes from downtown). Jimmy Macs in NW usually has great local Jazz/Blues bands.

Have fun! Let me know if you have questions.
