hand made
Since I took the pledge to buy homemade for the holidays, I also decided that I would try to open an etsy shop.
I hope to have it done by this weekend. I don’t know how it will work, but I thought I would give it a try.
So, wish me luck and come visit once it is set up.

Today
I been absent for some time now. I was having temporary brain malfunctions. I couldn't decide if I should have a blog or not, what was the whole reason behind it, etc... You know the same old questions about self promotion.
Anyway, who cares right? Who cares why people do what they do. Everyone needs something.
I have had a lot to think about lately too, my dad died. He was only 65 years old. It is weird to be an adult and then feel so much like a kid, when it comes to something like this.
There are so many things to do and to think about. What you should have done, what you didn't do, why you didn't do it and of course the most important...Forgiveness.
Without the ability to forgive I believe that you can not move forward. That also includes forgiving yourself.
I have a lot to work on this week and i have to say it is going to be hard.

Forgive youself
"I must learn to love the fool in me-the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against the utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbor and who would rob me of human aliveness, humility and dignity but for my fool" - Theodore I. Rubin, MD

Fall
So fall is officially here. I had to put on socks yesterday. I don't wear socks and shoes until I absolutely have to...
I will be leaving for Art and Soul next week.
This will be my first time, I am excited and nervous. There are so many fun classes and it looks like a ton of fun people to meet. I will be gone for four days, time for classes and time for hanging around Portland. I love Portland, so many things to do and see.
I will be rooming with Catherine
I will get to meet her in person finally, I met her through her blog, she has beautiful jewelry and a great blog. She was the first person to leave a comment on my blog and actually she is the reason that I continued with my blog.
So, I am very excited to meet her talk to her in person.
I need to get more pictures posted, I have been lazy about uploading. So, hopefully the next post will have pictures.
Happy FAll

Wish
I have been fighting off some kind of stomach flu, I stayed home today and went to the chiropractor I am feeling a little better now.
Anyway, I was tagged by browyne to tell 7 things about myself. I have done that once, so I thought I would write down seven things that I wish...
1. I wish i liked myself better
2 I wish that people were nicer to each other
3. I wish that the sun would stay out longer even in the winter
4. I wish that i could take care of everyone that needed it
5. I wish i had someone who came over everyday before i got off work and cleaned
and made a "healthy" dinner for us.
6. I wish that i wasn't afraid of everything
7 I wish i could have dinner with you all.

one more day

I am going to pic a name tomorrow for my 1 year contest. I can see that I am so popular, so I thought I better give the people one more chance to enter!!
But, if it is just you few on the list then you might each get a gift specially designed just for you.
That would be more fun anyway.
So stay tuned for tomorrow when I have Emily pick a name or we will see what happens!!
There could be an ICE-O-MATIC in someone's future!

1 year today Wednesday the 12th

I put the wrong information on the last post.
Anyway, here is the moment you have all been waiting for. Me with the 80's hair. I think this was like 1988 or 89. The hair kind of blends in with the back ground, but you get the gist of it.
Why did I think that was sooooooooo cool!!! I can't stop laughing, because I know i have pictures somewhere that the hair is even worse than this.
As far as having a contest, I decided that I would send something, or some things to a winner.
If you leave your name I will do the usual draw from a hat, (I might use one left over from the big hair days, so i can get everyone's name in!!) amd I will tell you who the winner is and then you can email me your address.
I just got a case of really good wine, so that might be part of the package!
Please let me know if anyone rented "little voice" It is so worth it...
bye for now. I may need to find a picture of me in the 90's

one year
Tomorrow, Tuesday is my one year anniversary of this blog. Everyone seems to have some sort of contest so I will have to think of something by tomorrow.
But first I need you to rent the movie "Little Voice". you can order it from net flix. I just want someone else to watch this movie. It is one of my favorites.
I am going to try to find some pictures of me in the '80's. My hair was so big, I don't know if I can handle showing anyone.
The 80's were weird for me, to say the least. Lots of unhealthy behavior. Girls in their 20's really can make some bad decisions. Thank God, we kind of grow up or at least learn a little from our mistakes.
So, I am off to figure out a contest.

more '70's

Ok, I had to go and find a picture of me at the arts and crafts festival that we have here every year. Here I am in 1978 I think, probably 17 years old. Selling these beautifully designed hand made hats with feathers.
They were actually a really good seller. They went well with your long flowing granola dresses.
This town was a total granola town, until recently when we were "discovered" by all the magazines,a nd the developers. Now it is quite an division between the locals and the elitists who have come and started to build there 2nd and 3rd homes here.
Anyway, i just had to post this lovely picture of myself.
And I still go to all the arts and crafts festivals, not not selling hats anymore, but, you know what??? I bet someone would buy them!
I think I will have to do a post on my '80's. It is a lot more scary, the big hair, the life of a young girl following her "rock n roll" boyfriend around the pacific northwest. Little naive me, from small town to freakville.

The '70's
It has abeen awhile since i have posted anything. Just getting ready for fall, school starting, swim team starting at 5:30 am, etc...
I was thinking how so much of the blogs that I read and like to visit are the artsy ones, I started to notice that a lot of the stuff i like reminds me of when I was in jr. high and high school.
The collage stuff that everyone likes to do, the use of decopage, journaling, altered books, soldering pictures or words behind glass, making beads out of paper, and making jewelry. It just seems to have made it's way around again.
I remember making an altered book, journal for my boyfriend when I was 16 or 17. You could buy these "empty books" and then we would write quotes, draw pictures, make collages, write poems and add photos. It was a very cool gift.!!
My room was like one big mod podged collage, the closet doors and walls were filled with collage and poems and quotes.
I painted the inside of my shower wall with a big rainbow and clouds, I was totally into rainbows at the time. I still have a little tiny pocket mirror that I soldered, a picture of a rainbow on one side and a mirror on the other.
I collected drift wood and rocks and feathers. I "mod podged" drift wood with all kinds of magazine pictures and words. I made "hippie" necklaces with wire and beads from this head shop that sold all kinds of cools stuff. I so badly wanted to take pictures of everything with my 110 pocket camera!!
I guess what I am getting at is that, one, I am still pretty much the same person, and two,
the art we love now is the same art we loved then, now we are just a little more sophisticated, well, you guys are, but I just think it is funny how things turn out.

Rainbow

Look what I saw in my backyard!!
Vacation is almost over, I have to go back to work on Tuesday. I am nor really looking forward to that. It was so nice staying home and getting things done. But that is the way it goes I guess.
School is almost starting just one more week and then back to getting things ready for swim team, lunches, football games, dances etc...And then of course the days get shorter. I am not looking forward to that either, I am a little worried about it in fact. It is really hard on me, so I have to get a plan in place before the end of September...YIKES!
The fair was actually a lot of fun, I think that was the most time I have spent at the fair in my whole life. My neice and nephew did a great job and both got blue and red ribbons.
Today is my one year wedding anniversary...Can you believe it! One year of marriage after 16 years of unmarriedness. HA, doesn't feel that different, but now we get to celebrate with a great bottle of wine. $200 in fact, that will be a first for me. Usually it is the $10 to $30 bottle that we get. So we'll see how that is.
well I have to go get ready and I will leave you with what I saw in the back yard.

Taking the wek off to get ready for school and the fair. Both my neice and nephew have animals in the fair. Today we watched the Sheep being shown and tomorrow is the steer!! Pretty exciting stuff you are all missing!
I think they may even have some kind of riding lawn mower competition...
Our fair is pretty much the same as it was 30 years ago. Farm animals, Vegetables and flowers. Fair food, wild animal exhibit... Bear, cougar, racoon, beaver, elk, and deer. A big fish pond with Rainbow trout, you know the small town fair.
The fair does signify the official ending of summer.
So, maybe some pictures tomorrow, i am on the slow computer today so pictures take way too long.
Thank you all for the comments on the last post, I really do love that!

Today

It is morning and I am sitting outside at the picnic table. It is a beautiful day so far, perfect temp. even a little chilly to be out here in my pajamas, I can hear the birds talking to each other, the sheep next door are also having some kind of conversation. The neighbor's dogs are having a race, a few apples will fall and make a little thud, a car drives by, everyonce in awhile I can hear my other neighbor laughing and you can hear the faint sound of a train whistle. These are the sounds that I have been missing, I have not taken much time to just sit and look and listen and enjoy. Seems like you can always find something you think is more important.
I live in a rural area so my neighbors are spread out a bit, in the field next to me the girls have mowed a crooked path to get to from each other's homes. I look out at this crazy path and I think, how time has flown, the girls used to walk to see each other, then ride their bikes, then they figured out how to drive the riding lawn mower and hook up a wagon and give each other rides back and forth, (they even discovered they had cup holders!! that was a huge deal), now they are learning to drive. They still use the path though. We all do. It is a path that leads to friends.
How lucky am i too live in such a pleasant spot?? I have to keep that in my mind when things start to get overwhelming. Realizing that this is what i have and this is what makes me feel good.

Now guess what my horoscope just said!
August 17, 2007
Flowing TranquilityAries Daily Horoscope
You may be feeling laid back which could make it easier for you to go with the flow and take things as they come today. Perhaps this sense of serenity might be due to your recognition that there is really little in life that you have to worry about if you allow yourself to put your trust in the hands of the universe. Being able to simply let go and let life take you where it will may not be easy, but if you can give yourself gentle reminders throughout the day should any fearful or doubtful thoughts arise such as “I feel relaxed” or “Life flows easily through me”. As you do this, you could notice that this gives you both greater peace of mind through a more permissive and accepting attitude of whatever may happen to you today. Trying not to control things but instead to simply let them take their course brings more tranquility into our lives. Our ability to release into whatever might occur may not be something that comes to us easily – even when we are the most relaxed, negative and worried thoughts may crop up. Once we know this however, we can easily come back to our state of peacefulness by using simple affirmations or prompts to gently help our minds release any thoughts that we are holding onto which also hold us back. By letting yourself go wherever life takes you, you will find tranquility in the quiet acceptance of the way things are today.
Talk about a day of getting what I need....Thank YOU

Today's Affirmation
I enthusiastically embrace change.
Today's Meditation
Dear God,When I sense internal restlessness and fidgeting,I pay attention to the source of my irritation.I recognize that my awareness is being directed to some aspect of my beingfor the purpose of transformation.Rather then whine and complain about current circumstances,I lean into change.Thank You for situations that grab my attentionand cause me to take a closer look at life.Thank You for the courage and strength to change my mind and my world.Thank You for the incredible order that governs the way our world works.Illumine any area of my life that is ready for transformation.
I have been struggling and struggling the last couple months with the way I am feeling about a certain situation. I opened my computer today and this is what the first email said!!!, HELLLLOOOO. I am trying!! Really I am.

Worry

“The voice in your head is like a wild horse taking you wherever it wants to go…When the voice in your head finally stops talking, you experience inner peace.”~Don Miguel Ruiz
It seems like if I could only do this I would be so happy. How do you stop all the nonsense in your head. There is always so much going on in there, mostly worry, worry about all the stuff that I have no control over…I tell myself this and I still have the worst anxiety.
Is there special tricks that you do to help calm your mind from all the needless worry? To me it isn’t needless and that seems to be my problem.
Any suggestions???

luck
So we went to out door festival again last night. The first band was Jackie Green, I would highly recomend adding some of his music to your itunes library. Then the 2nd band came out and it was Los Lonely Boys, who were equally as awesome!! the perfomance from them and their father was FUN!! We danced our heads off, but can you believe I forgot my camera every night.
I think there is so much excitement just getting ready and getting in line and trying to find the perfect spot on the grass, that I forgot my favorite camera. We did try to use the cell phone camera but that is not that great.
So, there we were on this wonderful August night, the sky was blue, some puffy clouds going by, friends everywhere, wine flowing, good food, good music, great spot. The ospreys were flying overhead giving us a spectacular show, catching fish and then flying them back to the babies in the nests above us. It was beautiful.
I had to get up to use the restroom, so as I am standing in the line visiting with my daughter and my neighbor, I feel something wet land on my forhead, I thought, "oh no, not rain", I said "what was that?" We look around and I see something white on my shirt, and so did Marty, He said, " Hey, I think the osprey just shit on us" It was true, can you believe that... then my friend Jay said "oh, Ithink that is good luck, you need to make a wish"... So that was our laugh for the night.
But we really did have such a fun night, and we are off to one more concert tonight. Josh Ritter and Madeline Peryoux. I have to make a cous cous salad and maybe a chocolate cake to take.
I will be wearing a hat tonight!!
